Download and read online AC DC FAQ in PDF and EPUB (Book). AC/DC FAQ spans AC/DC's 40-year career, starting from the band's inception in 1973. This book covers everything from their early days in Australia to their first tour of England and the United States. It also includes personal experiences, stories, conversations, and interviews by author Susan Masino, who has known the band since 1977. Featuring 37 chapters, AC/DC FAQ chronicles the personal history of each of the band members, all their albums, tours, and various anecdotes. Rebounding from the tragic loss of their singer Bon Scott in 1980, AC/DC hired Brian Johnson and went on to record Back in Black , which is now one of the top five biggest-selling albums in music history. Taking a seven-year break after their album Stiff Upper Lip , the band came back in the fall of 2008 with a new album, Black Ice , and a tour that ran from 2008 through the summer of 2010. Once again breaking records, AC/DC saw the Black Ice Tour become the second-highest-grossing tour in history. True rockers from the very beginning, AC/DC will continue to be heralded as one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time.

Download and read online Black Sabbath FAQ in PDF and EPUB (Book). Unlike any Sabbath book thus far, Black Sabbath FAQ digs deep into quirks, obscure anecdotes, and burning questions surrounding the Sabs. In a fast-moving, topical format, this book covers a tremendous amount of information, delectable to any Sabbath fan, but hard to find in a traditional biography. This rich history lives and breathes and shouts right here. And the voice behind it could not be stronger: Martin Popoff is a heavy metal expert who has authored over 30 books on the subject, including Doom Let Loose , which is widely considered the definitive biography of the band. In Black Sabbath FAQ , Popoff is like a rabid detective unearthing (and sometimes debunking) ancient lore, valiantly covering new ground, applying academic rigor, but then wildly sounding off with lurid opinion. The pendulum swings, and, though disoriented, the serious Sabbath studier is better for it come the book's doomy conclusion. Dozens of images of rare memorabilia make this book a must-have for fans.

Download and read online AC DC in PDF and EPUB AC/DC tells the little-known story of how Thomas Edison wrongly bet in the fierce war between supporters of alternating current and direct current. The savagery of this electrical battle can hardly be imagined today. The showdown between AC and DC began as a rather straightforward conflict between technical standards, a battle of competing methods to deliver essentially the same product, electricity. But the skirmish soon metastasized into something bigger and darker. In the AC/DC battle, the worst aspects of human nature somehow got caught up in the wires; a silent, deadly flow of arrogance, vanity, and cruelty. Following the path of least resistance, the war of currents soon settled around that most primal of human emotions: fear. AC/DC serves as an object lesson in bad business strategy and poor decision making. Edison's inability to see his mistake was a key factor in his loss of control over the ?operating system? for his future inventions?not to mention the company he founded, General Electric.

Managing Coal Combustion Residues in Mines

Download and read online Managing Coal Combustion Residues in Mines in PDF and EPUB Burning coal in electric utility plants produces, in addition to power, residues that contain constituents which may be harmful to the environment. The management of large volumes of coal combustion residues (CCRs) is a challenge for utilities, because they must either place the CCRs in landfills, surface impoundments, or mines, or find alternative uses for the material. This study focuses on the placement of CCRs in active and abandoned coal mines. The committee believes that placement of CCRs in mines as part of the reclamation process may be a viable option for the disposal of this material as long as the placement is properly planned and carried out in a manner that avoids significant adverse environmental and health impacts. This report discusses a variety of steps that are involved in planning and managing the use of CCRs as minefills, including an integrated process of CCR characterization and site characterization, management and engineering design of placement activities, and design and implementation of monitoring to reduce the risk of contamination moving from the mine site to the ambient environment. Enforceable federal standards are needed for the disposal of CCRs in minefills to ensure that states have adequate, explicit authority and that they implement minimum safeguards.

Download and read online Home Informatics and Telematics in PDF and EPUB This volume is composed of the best papers submitted to the HOIT2000 conference held in Wolverhampton, U. K. in June 2000. The conference, entitled "IT at home: Virtual influences on everyday life", and the papers reflect the wide variety of these influences that are coming to bear on our everyday experience, be it through the increasing use of computers or the rapid development of new telecommunications systems. The conference has been organised by IFIP Working Group 9. 3 - Home-Oriented Informatics and Telematics (HOIJ) , in association with IFIP Working Group 13. 2- Methodology for user-centred system design. This gives a broad range of topics that are within the sphere of interest of the participants and the authors of the papers. The disciplines involved in the study of this subject area are varied composing computing, telecommunications, psychology, sociology, business studies and others. The conference is the second in a series of HOlT conferences, the first being held in Copenhagen in 1994. The subject is now more mature with the various disciplines being increasingly interested in the home as a research domain. The various technical developments over the time since the first conference have also had a profound effect on the way in which people communicate both in the home and at work. The rise in the use of the Internet has changed the way in which many people view communication and access to information sources.
