Download and read online Couple Mechanics in PDF and EPUB At once sexy and feminist, this is a story of a woman who decides to fight for her marriage after her husband confesses to an affair with a notable politician Juliette, a computer engineer, and Olivier, a journalist, have two young children and the busy lives of a modern Parisian couple. On a beautiful spring day, while sitting by the river watching her children play, Juliette’s cell phone rings. It is her husband. When Olivier confesses to having an affair, Juliette’s world is shattered. How do you survive betrayal? Can a couple ever be united again? What lengths would you go to in order to save your marriage? These are the questions that this novel, with great intelligence, honesty, and humor, tries to answer. In its acute depiction of intimacy, Couple Mechanics exposes the system of forces at work in a marriage, the effects of the inevitable ebb and flow of desire, and the difficulty of being a man today.
Download and read online Couple Mechanics in PDF and EPUB Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. In mechanics, a couple is a system of forces with a resultant (a.k.a. net, or sum) moment but no resultant force. Another term for a couple is a pure moment. Its effect is to create rotation without translation, or more generally without any acceleration of the centre of mass. The resultant moment of a couple is called a torque. This is not to be confused with the term torque as it is used in physics, where it is merely a synonym of moment.

Download and read online Handbook of Imaging in Biological Mechanics in PDF and EPUB Emerging imaging techniques have opened new fronts to investigate tissues, cells, and proteins. Transformative technologies such as microCT scans, super-resolution microscopy, fluorescence-based tools, and other methods now allow us to study the mechanics of cancer, dissect the origins of cellular force regulation, and examine biological specimens at the nanoscale. The Handbook of Imaging in Biological Mechanics presents the spectrum of imaging techniques used for noninvasive visualization of the morphology and mechanics of the large and small—from organs to individual macromolecules. The handbook presents optimal imaging technologies to study deformation, stress, and constitutive behavior of tissues, cells, and proteins. It also describes a suite of technologies available for probing the mechanics of surfaces, membranes, and single molecules. With chapters authored by highly recognized experts in their area, the handbook covers the entire spectrum of biomechanical and mechanobiologic imaging technologies available today.
Download and read online Mechanics of Generalized Continua in PDF and EPUB 5 The symposium was held in Freudenstadt from 28\h to 31 \ ofAugust st nd 1967 and in Stuttgart from 1 to 2 of September 1967. The proposal to hold this symposium originated with the German Society of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM) late in 1964 and was examined by a committee of IUTAM especially appointed for this purpose. The basis of this examination was a report in which the present situation in the field and the possible aims of the symposium were surveyed. Briefly, the aims of the symposium were stated to be 1. the unification of the various approaches developed in recent years with the aim of penetrating into the microscopic world of matter by means of continuum theories; 2. the bridging of the gap between microscopic (or atomic) research on mechanics on one hand, and the phenomenological (or continuum mechanical) approach on the other hand; 3. the physical interpretation and the relation to actual material behaviour of the quantities and laws introduced into the new theories, together with applications; 4. the further development of the theories, where necessary, and the clarification of open questions; 5. a stocktaking of present achievements and the prognosis for future developments. The committee agreed unanimously that the topic of the symposium represented an important phase of current developments in continuum mechanics, from the purely theoretical point of view as well as in connection with possible applications to actual materials.

Each topic ends with a boxed summary of ideas and results, and every chapter contains numerous homework problems, covering a broad range of difficulties. Answers are given to odd-numbered problems, and solutions to even-numbered problems are available to instructors at www.cambridge.org/9781107694927.
Download and read online Mechanics of Generalized Continua in PDF and EPUB In their 1909 publication Théorie des corps déformables, Eugène and François Cosserat made a historic contribution to materials science by establishing the fundamental principles of the mechanics of generalized continua. The chapters collected in this volume showcase the many areas of continuum mechanics that grew out of the foundational work of the Cosserat brothers. The included contributions provide a detailed survey of the most recent theoretical developments in the field of generalized continuum mechanics and can serve as a useful reference for graduate students and researchers in mechanical engineering, materials science, applied physics and applied mathematics.
