Download and read online Shout It Out Loud in PDF and EPUB (Book). How does an underground oddity become a cultural phenomenon? For over 40 years, the rock band Kiss has galvanized the entertainment world with an unparalleled blitz of bravado, theatricality, and shameless merchandizing, garnering generations of loyally rabid fans. But if not for a few crucial months in late 1975 and early 1976, Kiss may have ended up nothing more than a footnote. Shout It Out Loud is a serious examination of the circumstance and serendipity that fused the creation of the band's seminal work, Destroyer including the band's arduous ascent to the unexpected smash hit, Alive! , the ensuing lawsuits between its management and its label, the pursuit of the hot, young producer, a grueling musical "boot camp," the wildly creative studio abandon, the origins behind an iconic cover, the era's most outlandish tour, and the unlikely string of hit singles. Extensive research from the period and insights into each song are enhanced by hundreds of archived materials and dozens of interviews surrounding the mid-'70s-era Kiss and its zeitgeist. New interviews with major principals in the making of an outrageously imaginative rock classic animate this engaging tale.

Download and read online M A S H FAQ in PDF and EPUB (FAQ). Here's the lowdown on the unforgettable show about the Forgotten War. M*A*S*H began as a novel written by a surgeon who had been in a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean War. After being rejected multiple times, the novel would go on to become a bestseller, leading to 14 sequels, an Oscar-winning movie that propelled its director and actors to stardom, and a multiple-Emmy-winning television series that lasted nearly four times the length of the war. M.A.S.H. FAQ looks at how the novel came to be, its follow-ups in literary form, the creation of the popular movie, and most importantly the television series that transformed comedy and television in the 1970s. Included are chapters on the top-20 pranks of M*A*S*H , the cast members' careers before and after the television show, famous guest appearances, and movies shown in the mess hall. Beyond the fiction, M.A.S.H. FAQ also features a brief chapter to put the war into perspective for easy referral and looks at what led to the Korean War, how such medical units functioned, and how M*A*S*H shaped our perception of the era.

Islam FAQ

Number of pages: 241

Publisher: Islam FAQ

Download and read online Islam FAQ in PDF and EPUB [From a review posted on the net.] The blurb on the back says "There are surprises in this book." No kidding. There are surprises on every page. This is the definitive ´everything you wanted to know about Muslims but were too afraid to ask´ book. And, actually, you´d do well to be afraid because some of the answers to the faqs are a bit scary. And surprising. And occasionally not an answer at all. Take this answer about whether or not pictures are forbidden by Islam for example. "Given the choice of sticking an icepick up your nose, or reconciling the points of view, go for the icepick. It´s all over in a second or two that way". In a lot of ways this is really a very funny book on a very serious subject and the tone, throughout, is conversational rather than conspiratorial. It´s extraordinarily readable. The author puts none of his own opinions in and this removes the sense that you are being driven to somebody´s point of view. The Question that I most Frequently Asked myself while reading Islam F.A.Q was "Where is the faqing index?" This would be a great reference book for schools etc but...no index. Where´s the stuff on Fatwa? Apostasy? Taliban? Jihad? All these are well covered but unless you dog ear the pages, you´ll be trawling back and forth trying to find what you want. It´s probably because I am a senior school teacher that I think like this, and in the back of my mind there is the thought that this author has come up with a brand new genre. The non-fiction book that is meant to be read for an overall picture, not bought for research. I guess the best way to read it is from the beginning. All the way through. Buy it but be prepared for surprises.
